A school like no other

At Sainte-Anne, innovation is at the heart of our educational vision, from preschool to college. Collège Sainte-Anne’s vision is to build the school of tomorrow, contributing to the well-being of students and inventing a new model of education. And its mission: to inspire and cultivate the pleasure of learning and develop the courage to innovate.

Founded in Lachine in 1861, Collège Sainte-Anne is the largest private educational institution in Quebec, with five establishments and a sixth to be added on July 1, 2025 (three preschool-primary establishments, two secondary establishments and one college). Its meteoric growth in recent years is the result of a unique education strategy, including the merger with École Buissonnière d’Outremont. And in 2022, we opened a new high school in Dorval, based on an avant-garde pedagogical model that sets us apart from other schools in Canada and around the world.

100% of French teachers would like external support in correcting texts

Collège Sainte-Anne understands the importance of teacher well-being. In 2021, French teachers were surveyed to better understand the irritants associated with teaching their subject. Unsurprisingly, 90% said they found the correction of written work tedious, despite the fact that it is necessary for student development. Since the dawn of time, this task has been long and tedious. 100% of teachers surveyed would like help with proofreading.

Following in-depth research, the Centre d’innovation et d’expertise pédagogique de Sainte-Anne approached Moov AI to confirm some working hypotheses. This collaboration led to the birth of Emilia.

Emilia, a correction tool powered by artificial intelligence, supports teachers in correcting texts by identifying various errors, so that they can follow students as they learn. The tool considerably reduces correction time, enabling faster feedback to students. It is also possible to add voice comments to the feedback, enriching pedagogical interaction. In the near future, the tool will offer the possibility of linking students in the same class to encourage their affiliation and collaboration for better progress.

Choosing Emilia is choosing AI.

AI can detect errors in textual consistency, sentence syntax, punctuation, vocabulary, grammatical spelling and usage spelling, depending on the student’s level.

The use of artificial intelligence improves teachers’ quality of life by reducing the time spent on correction, freeing up more time for pedagogy with students, thus promoting better feedback and learning.

A first pioneering achievement in the realm of education !

This project, led by Collège Sainte-Anne, is innovative in several respects. In particular, it marks a sustained foray into the field of artificial intelligence, underlining Sainte-Anne’s avant-garde vision.

The creation of an automated proofreader incorporating artificial intelligence is a major step forward that will have a significant impact on education. Ultimately, students will be able to benefit from more frequent and detailed assessments, which will have an undeniable leverage effect on their learning of French.

How does Emilia work?

Once the text has been written by the student, the teacher must submit a correction request via the Emilia web application. The tool analyzes the text and makes a prejudgement based on criteria relating to ideas and codifies spelling and syntax errors, while taking into account the Ministry’s criteria and learning progression.

AI reduces correction time per copy by up to 75%

Moov AI took the time to listen to me. When I arrived with a lot of ideas, they were able to establish a game plan and list of priorities to successfully bring my scattered ideas together.

We loved working with Moov AI. For us, whenever we talk about artificial intelligence, Moov AI is the first name that comes to mind!

Using AI to rekindle the passion of French teachers and boost student motivation

Proofreading is one of the most repetitive tasks in teaching, which can quickly dampen the passion for the profession. This is where artificial intelligence comes in to support teachers by quickly detecting thousands of errors. Automated correction reduces repetitive tasks, leaving more time for pedagogy and individualized student follow-up. Students, who find it engaging to receive rapid voice feedback, will be more motivated and encouraged to develop their writing skills.

Emilia embodies the future of teaching. This virtual assistant fits into both primary and secondary school curricula, and will continue to integrate new features as development progresses. We are extremely proud to be making an impact in the field of education and helping to shape the future of education.

If, like Collège Sainte-Anne, you have a clear vision for a project involving AI but are unsure how to implement it, we're here to help with that.
